Band 5 Emergency Care Nurse
(Bonus ££ Payment on completion of 100 Hours)
 
THE BACKGROUND:
Quality Locum Solutions are currently working with a leading NHS Trust based in East London and have an available opportunity for a Registered General Nurse with solid A&E experience, to work in their emergency department. A&E nurses are often the first point of contact for patients after they enter the hospital setting. The doctors and nurses in A&E are highly trained in emergency medicine and have access to equipment and treatments for life threatening conditions. A&E nurses will assess condition's and decide on further action using a system called clinical triage. Do you have this niche experience? THE RESPONSIBILITIES:
·Responsible for maintaining care standards in accident and emergency
·Assist with checking in patients, doing triage work for doctors and other nurses within the department
·Work closely with doctors to keep patients and their family members updated on test results or treatment recommendations
·Maintain contact with laboratory personnel to report any initial lab findings back to the A&E doctors
·Make arrangements for patients that are deemed to need care requiring them to be admitted to the hospital for one night or longer
·Triage (assign degrees of urgency and order of treatment) to patients so those who have more critical issues get care first
·Take patients' vital signs
·Administer medication
·Record patients' symptoms
·Help doctors with medical procedures
·Provide education and support to patients and families
·Remain calm under pressure
·Think and act quickly in urgent situations
·Work and communicate well with the doctors and the rest of the medical team
·Be compassionate with patients and their families who may be upset
 
EDUCATION:
·Nursing Degree  
 
THE REQUIREMENTS:
·Registered with NMC with a current UK Pin.
·Ability to cover early or late shift patterns.
·Previous A&E Experience
·Good communication skills and work well in a team.
 
THE REWARDS:
·Pay rates start at £24ph - £32ph.
